Hi, I am Jinghong Chen.

I came to U.S. three years ago to pursue my journalistic mission: to see beyond the facts and beneath the ordinary. I recently graduated from Missouri School of Journalism with a focus on data journalism and international journalism.

I am currently a production assistant at WBEZ Worldview, a daily global affair talk show. I am also writing about East Asia at The Globe Post, a website that covers U.S. and international affairs.

Previously, I was a producer at the Global Journalist, a website covering international affairs and press freedom issue, for two years. I had also done internship at Al Jazeera English’s daily show The Stream and the New York Times Chinese.

I also had covered science at the Bond Life Sciences Center at the University of Missouri, entrepreneurship at Missouri Business Alert and civic life at Columbia Missourian.

With experience in both international news agency and the U.S. local news outlet, I have covered WikiLeaks, prison strike in U.S., Somalia journalism,  HongKong parallel traders, Columbia city council election, opening of Art gallery, Columbia recycling system upgrades, etc.

I am also constantly honing my data reporting skills. I had complied a Columbia restaurant safety map using Python and data visualization tools. I am also familiar with html, css, MySQL and Illustrator.

Grew up in China, I am familiar with Chinese language and culture.
